Cool nights have started and school
is gearing up.
This can only mean one thing – fall is coming! What an
exciting time of the year! The fall edition of ‘Vogue
Knitting’ states this season is about fashion fusion
and VOLUME, “so put away those tiny jackets and luxuriate
in a cozy cardigan. Get hot under the collar with huge cowl
necks on knee-length pullovers.”
Their awesome Fair Isle pullover uses Dale of Norway’s
Heilo yarn, which is a recent addition to our stock
along with Freestyle & Falk (machine washable
pure wool) in a variety of colors. Interested in learning
the two color two-hand technique used in Fair Isle knitting?
We have a class for that!
Look no further for your next fashion statement; we have
new patterns from Lorna’s Laces, Frog Tree, Dale of
Norway and Prism yarns. And of course the yarns to match -
Frog Tree sport weight alpaca yarn is both soft and vibrant,
Lorna’s Laces new arrivals include Shepherd Sock,
Fisherman, Shepherd Worsted and Swirl Chunky. If you
haven’t had the opportunity to experience Prism yarns
Cool Stuff and Wild Stuff, you are in for a treat!
Each skein of Stuff consists of many different textures that
have all been hand dyed and gauge coordinated.
Other new fibers include a wide selection of Plymouth Encore
and Galway worsted weight yarns, expected to arrive shortly
from New York Yarns – Action, Gypsy & LaLa.

Get your creative juices flowing. The Knitting Nook is excited
to announce our first contest! We are looking for a ‘Knitters
Tool Belt’! To be eligible for the contest,
the design must be your own. No restrictions on use of materials,
whatever your heart desires. (Could this be yet another use
for duct tape?) Judging will be in two categories - adult
and youth, and will be based on style, efficacy and originality.
All submissions must be received at The Knitting Nook (TKN)
by Saturday, March 24, 2007. Winners will be announced at
the April 2007 Fashion Show.
You heard it right – there is going to be a first annual
TKN Fashion Show! This will not be your ordinary fashion show.
Not only will every penny be donated to ‘The Juvenile
Diabetes Research Foundation’ (www.jdrf.org),
but every article modeled at the event will be made with yarn
from The Knitting Nook. Your participation is greatly needed.
Start now to knit or crochet an item(s) to be modeled using
our yarn selection or donated for the silent auction with
yarn of your choice. The pinnacle of the event will be the
announcement of the winners of the ‘soon to be famous’
Knitters Tool Belt contest.
I hope you are now inspired to get creative and knitting!
